Energy

ZAPATA works with our clients to meet their energy production, efficiency, and intensity reduction requirements and goals.  Our staff can prepare overall energy strategies; design and execute data gathering programs for facilities; design facility and installation-wide energy efficiency and conservation programs; evaluate renewable energy technologies; design, construct, and operate renewable energy generating facilities; and identify potential funding options for energy solutions.

Retrocommissioning of 350 Buildings for US Army

ZAPATA conducted assessments of 350 buildings on an active US Army installation and is developing a scope of work and cost estimate for a full retrocommissioning project for each of the buildings.  The retrocommissioning projects will address each building’s mechanical and domestic hot water systems and will return the existing systems to their proper functionality and efficiency.

Microgrid Requirements

ZAPATA is leading a multi-team project to develop microgrid requirements and specifications that will permit Fort Bragg to remove critical portions of the installation from the current electric power distribution grid.  Electric power will then be provided by alternative or renewable energy sources developed on the installation.

Central Energy Plant Modeling

ZAPATA prepared sisHYD models for six central energy plant infrastructure-piping networks located at an active US Army Installation.  Bentley sisHYD (sisHYD) is a comprehensive analytical modeling and network design application used for hydraulic and thermal calculations necessary for central plant heating and cooling networks.

Vogtle Electric Generating Plant

ZAPATA provided complete design of four facilities to be constructed as part of the overall project to add two new reactor facilities at the Plant Vogtle Nuclear Station. Design activities included architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm. ZAPATA prepared a series of design submittals for review for each of the disciplines, and also prepared engineer’s cost estimates for construction.
