Charlotte-based ZAPATA announced plans to open an office in the Atlanta metropolitan area with the hiring of Ms. Kellie Sak, PE, as Regional Vice President. The architecture-engineering (A-E), construction management, and environmental services firm selected this central location to best serve its clients in the Georgia, Florida, and Alabama markets.

“In Georgia alone, ZAPATA has active DoD projects underway at a majority of the military installations (Moody Air Force Base, Fort Benning, Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield, and Fort Gordon). It’s important that we’re able to quickly address our clients’ needs—and Kellie has the experience to undertake this high-profile responsibility,” stated company president Manuel Zapata, PE.

Ms. Sak holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME).

Ms. Sak draws upon 20 years of experience in the transportation and infrastructure sectors, working as a consultant, project manager, and a registered professional engineer. Key clients include: USACE – Mobile and Savannah Districts, U.S. Coast Guard, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), and Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). Ms. Sak will be responsible for the new Atlanta office where she will oversee ZAPATA’s client and business development strategies in pursuit of local/state/federal government contracts; and manage A-E operations, field work, technical reports and proposals, and personnel/staffing requirements.

The addition of an Atlanta office is part of ZAPATA’s strategic development plan to expand its presence throughout the Southeast; the concentration of active Georgia-based projects accelerated this initiative.

“We’re delighted by Kellie’s decision to represent ZAPATA in Atlanta. Kellie already has long-standing relationships with several of our clients, and I am confident in her vision for the future and how it aligns with ZAPATA’s goals and expectations,” said Marty Ray, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Planning.

Currently, ZAPATA has positions available in Atlanta and Charlotte and is hiring architects, designers, and engineers from a variety of disciplines. For additional information: zapatainc.com/careers
