ZAPATA welcomes Ms. Charity Brown as the newest member of the firm’s Accounting department. Ms. Brown has 20 years of office and accounting experience that includes 13 years in the A/E/C industry.
At ZAPATA, Ms. Brown is responsible for the timely and accurate posting of financial transactions, accounts payable, and other administrative functions. This includes processing expense reports and vendor invoices, reviewing purchase order agreements, assisting with vendor inquiries, and maintaining the vendor database.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Ms. Brown attended Medgar Evers College. Later she moved to Texas, and in 2007 she began working in the construction industry employed by a full service general contractor, then a new home builder.
In her role as contract administrator, Ms. Brown managed account communications between customers, vendors, subcontractors, and the internal team; oversaw account receivables; coordinated on-site vendor and subcontractor services; and maintained contract agreements including executed contracts, modifications/change orders, insurance certificates, and entries to company financial system and contract/document repository. She will continue to use these skills in her new position at ZAPATA.
