June 17, 2025ZAPATA announced that architect David Dunbar, AIA, NCARB, has joined the firm at its headquarters in Charlotte, NC. The registered architect brings a dozen years of design experience that includes extensive knowledge of documentation and detailing, building codes, life safety analysis, ADA compliance, permitting, and construction materials and methods. He has led multiple concurrent projects and worked closely with clients to consistently deliver results that exceeded expectations.
Mr. Dunbar graduated with a Master of Architecture from Pratt Institute (New York, NY) and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Catholic University of America (Washington, DC). His portfolio includes a broad range of retail and hospitality projects of various scopes and complexity.
As a member of ZAPATA’s architectural team, Mr. Dunbar will primarily work with industrial and military clients to provide architectural designs and specifications for new construction; sustainment, restoration, and modernization (SRM); and renovations of existing facilities and infrastructure. He will provide architectural designs, project management services, design-build RFP development, facility condition assessments, QA/QC reviews, and construction phase services.
Outside of work, Mr. Dunbar enjoys spending time with his family, coaching one of his children’s youth sports teams, watching soccer, and reading.
