John Lewis Joins ZAPATA

Electrical engineer John Lewis joined ZAPATA and will work with the firm’s architecture-engineering (A-E) team to provide designs for military, commercial, and industrial clients. His responsibilities include planning and designing electrical systems and components, preparing electrical detailing and specifications for construction drawings, performing lighting calculations, and managing electrical components within large-scale construction projects.

Mr. Lewis began his career in the electrical power industry working for Dominica Electricity Services (DOMLEC). In his role as a service team lead and dispatcher, he was a liaison between customers and the company and worked with engineers and line crew to resolve emergent issues in the field and during planned and unplanned power outages. Later, he served as a power plant operator for DOMLEC’s system of hydroelectric power stations, maintaining proper loading of generating units and power stations to ensure the generators were working at optimal levels.

Mr. Lewis earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He received his Engineer in Training (EIT) designation, and he is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and IEEE Power and Energy Society.

His DoD project experience, for clients such as USAF, USACE, NAVFAC, and USMC, includes hangars and aircraft maintenance facilities, access control points (ACPs), housing/barracks, transportation and manufacturing facilities, and warehouses.
