Excerpt: An idealistic young man, Felipe, is captured by the military in Chile after the September 11, 1973, coup that deposed President Salvador Allende. He manages to escape and ends up in Siberia working as a spy. He is forced to create an entirely new life for himself.

His wife, María Teresa, has to endure the rejection of her family for marrying a communist. She gives birth to their daughter while Felipe is in hiding, and without the affection and care of her family. After the military interrogates her, she goes into hiding high up in the Andes Mountains where she almost dies in a snowstorm. Later, María Teresa learns her husband has been executed by the military.

After more than 30 years, an unexpected encounter will ease the pain that Felipe and María Teresa have experienced for so long.
