ZAPATA welcomes Ms. Sydney Gargiulo to Charlotte, North Carolina—and we are delighted that she has joined our firm as an Architect in Training.
Ms. Gargiulo studied architecture at Auburn University and graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College with two bachelor degrees: Architecture and Interior Architecture.
As part of her bachelor degree, Ms. Gargiulo finished her thesis project at Rural Studio—Auburn University’s rigorous off-campus design-build program. She was one of four students selected to design, fund, and personally construct five independent living units for local, vulnerable women in the rural Black Belt region of Alabama.
While a college student, Ms. Gargiulo spent summer and winter breaks gaining valuable experience as an intern architect in New Orleans. She created renderings; developed and red-lined construction documents; and attended pre-bid meetings and site visits with the project managers, clients, and contractors.
Ms. Gargiulo will continue to sharpen her skills and create architectural drawings for ZAPATA’s commercial and DoD clients; this will also involve preparing technical specifications and reviewing engineering plans for compliance with numerous regulatory acts, scheduling, and budgets.
