Jose Maciel Madera Joins ZAPATA

ZAPATA welcomes Jose Maciel Madera, electrical designer, to its engineering team based in the firm’s headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.

At ZAPATA, Mr. Maciel Madera will be responsible for designing a variety of new/retrofit electrical and communications projects for military, commercial, and industrial clients. He will plan and design electrical systems and components, prepare electrical detailing and specifications for construction drawings, participate in site visits to document conditions, and manage electrical components within large-scale construction projects.

After graduating from high school, Mr. Maciel Madera took an internship in the telecommunications industry, which helped to prepare him for college-level courses in electrical engineering. While a college student, he held three different internships (outside plant intern, engineering intern, and CAD design intern) and gained valuable electrical and fiber design experience; he later accepted a full-time position while finishing his last semester. Mr. Maciel Madera graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish.

In his spare time, Mr. Maciel Madera still enjoys playing competitive soccer—as he was a NCHSAA 4A State Champion in 2016 and his school, Green Hope High School in Cary, NC, ranked #1 in the nation that same year.
